About the artist
Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova is a visual artist from Slovakia, living in Ireland for over 15 years, known for her three-dimensional paper artwork. Miriam graduated as a Furniture Designer and has always been inspired by geometry and mathematics. These subjects run strongly in her family, with her mother and sister, who are math teachers. Juskova’s work is based on an old traditional paper quilling technique. By combining art with her passion for mathematics and geometry, she introduces a unique visual art language.
Each piece is created with a specific mathematical relationship, symmetry or sequence, which mesmerizes architectural forms that come to life through Miriam’s clever use of colors, shapes, and textures. Each finished artwork involves hours of designing, cutting, folding, and securing paper to achieve the required depth and movement.
Miriam approaches the process with a mixture of curiosity and precision - some pieces are created intuitively, while others are pre-designed with every single cut painstakingly measured. Miriam's work is held in many private collections and she represented by galleries in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Canada and the USA.
